French Chinoiserie Decoupage Six Panel Screen 19th Century
Mesmerizing 19th century French decoupage decorated six panel folding screen made in the chinoiserie revival period of the late 19th century Europe. Features French provincial toile de jouy style scenes as well as far east oriental characters and mythical beasts. Each panel is framed with a rounded top and an acanthus decorated border. The back is painted with red accent borders on each panel. The background has faded into a spectacular robin's egg blue color. Made on a grand scale with visible signs of wear and fading. Would be optimal mounted against a wall flat. Late 19th Century, France
